Thanksgiving

Our first major holiday in Georgia is over with and we had a wonderful time. Thursday was spent with Tom's (Elizabeth's boyfriend) family and friends. They have a beautiful house with a lot of property way up in the hills. It reminds me a lot of my grandparents house. The food was delicious (of course!) and it was nice to relax and enjoy everyone.

After lunch, we came home to take a nap because we knew we'd be up allll night. At 9pm we met Joe's family at Steak 'n' Shake to plot out our course of action. That's right, we were about to embark on the frenzy that is Black Friday shopping. Joe and I have always shopped on Black Friday but never pulled an all nighter while doing so. I have to say it was a lot of fun. We stopped at Wal-Mart first. It was crazy! We got there at 10pm and the sales didn't start until midnight. There were people huddled up around cardboard boxes everywhere. Eyeing each other as if to say "that (fill in the blank) is mine!" We had a few specific items we were looking for so we joined the mob to wait. At the stroke of midnight, Wal-Mart workers slashed open the boxes and the feeding frenzy erupted. You could hear the dull roar of people frantically grabbing items all over the store. In the end, we were victorious in getting what we came for (Thanks to Joe and Josh!) After waiting in line to check out for an hour, we were on our way to Target. Thankfully it was still warm so waiting out in line for it to open wasn't bad at all. Until the rain came. Yep, not Oregon sprinkling rain. Georgia biig drops rain. We didn't have to brave the rain too long though because the doors opened. And the rush of people swelled into Target. Again, there was a mass frenzy of scooping up everything they wanted. And, again, we were victorious. After Target, we ventured on to the mall for a bit and made it back to our apartment by 8:30am. The entire Cheshire crew had a lot of fun and I, for one, cannot wait to do it again next year.

We had the Cheshire Thanksgiving on Sunday and, of course, there was a house full with lots of good food. While it was really hard not being with my family this year for Thanksgiving, I am glad I was able to spend it with them. We had a wonderful, long weekend and I hope you did as well. We are now counting down the days until Christmas! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.

Love,

JoAnna
